We are one humanity. All connected & genetically 99.9% the same DNA. Waves in a connected field. We sure don’t always act that way. We often focus on what separates us rather than what unites us. Seeing the world, learning from other cultures & connecting with our fellow humans is one of the most deeply nourishing things we can do. We should not be afraid, we should be open, inquisitive & be willing to discuss our different world views. To analyse where our biases might have come from.
As a humanity, we decide what is right & wrong. I believe everyone is innately good but cultural, political, economic and societal forces shape our subconscious biases. However, everyone has a choice and it is no excuse for going against our innate human capacity for compassion & love.
To witness the shocking visualised reality of hate, police brutality, systemic oppression and racism reflecting it’s current state is surreal. The video of George Floyd touched a nerve in our societal consciousness & it’s about time. What would’ve happened if it was not recorded? Why does it take a viral global outcry? To witness such a cowardly inhumane act, such an abuse of power such racism distilled truly hurts. No matter what colour your skin is you wholeheartedly know that what happened was not right. Life is a miracle & what happened defies the sanctity of human life. It was a crime against humanity as far I’m concerned. One black pearl in a string of ignored beads.
As they say, how one gains their feeling of importance tells you a lot about their character. At this time, when we are forced to go inwards, confront our mortality & refocus on what is important let’s re-imagine what it means to be human. How on an individual level we can change. To be one of many domino’s starting a wave. To not only not be racist but to stand up for what is right.
We’ve witnessed our incredible capacity for compassion during these times. Through great suffering comes great growth. I know we will use this situation to become a more compassionate, connected race. One Race.
